Boulder, Co. (May 3, 2016) – Outdoor Industry Association (OIA), the trade association and voice for the outdoor recreation industry, has engaged Momentum Media PR to serve as its public relations agency of record. Momentum will immediately begin working with the OIA marketing and government affairs teams to amplify the association’s already significant efforts as an advocate and resource, both in the outdoor industry and beyond. Momentum will drive brand communications, strategic counsel, and public relations on behalf of the OIA to various industry, government and B-to-B audiences across both traditional and digital channels.
“We wanted a team that understands OIA’s initiatives and message to reach a broader audience – and leverage our resources and tools to educate the masses about our work in this industry – we sought a partner who would work closely with our team and who understood the nuances involved in working with the audiences we serve,” said Todd Walton, Marketing Communications Manager for OIA. “We found a solid fit with Momentum, and we’re thrilled to be working with them closely in Boulder to help serve our members and constituencies nationwide.”
A presidential election year, growing concerns around environmental issues, acknowledging the economic impact of the outdoor recreation industry, engaging a new generation: these are just a few of the immediate topics on the agenda for OIA. Washington, Colorado and Utah have recently created offices of outdoor recreation, with the potential for other states planning to follow suit, contributing to the increased need for a dominant, leading voice that can educate and provide advocacy. Through the partnership with Momentum, OIA will allow the industry, OIA members and the general public to make informed decisions about issues involving the outdoor industry and their larger impact.
“As passionate members of the OIA with deep roots in the outdoors, our agency has enjoyed working alongside the people and brands in the outdoor industry for over fifteen years. Playing and working in the outdoors is simply a part of our daily lives, but for many this isn’t the case. We recognize the need to share with a broader audience the lessons, ideas and work coming from this industry, as well as the need to connect young people with nature and outdoor recreation, and we’re excited to do just that on behalf of OIA,” says Alycia Cavadi, founder and principal of Momentum Media PR.
Most recently OIA announced the ‘What Region Rocks?’ industry challenge in support of Parks4Kids program, worked with key members of Congress on the REC Act legislation, and converged on Washington, D.C. with over 70 OIA members, for the Capitol Summit lobbying event.
