Cool Me Down: Mammut and Schoeller Coldblack in The New York Times

“Innovative”.  Perhaps, the most overused word in the outdoor industry, and in many others, I’m sure.  It’s not that often that a truly innovative fabric comes along.  Check out this article in The New York TimesSchoeller Textiles and Technologies has found a way to “Make Black Even More Cool”.   That is, by deflecting up to 80% of the sun’s rays, apparel made with Coldblack (like Mammut’s ever-popular Champ pant, pictured below) makes wearing black in baking sunlight feel cooler that wearing white or any other color.  Neat trick, huh?
